Sune Du Toit Chartered Physiotherapist

Suné Du Toit

Chartered Physiotherapist

Veterinary Physiotherapist

Member of HCPC, CSP, RAMP and ACPAT

Suné graduated in BSc Physiotherapy, in South Africa, in 1997 and practiced as a Chartered Physiotherapist in South Africa for a year. Suné then went to complete a post graduate acupuncture qualification in 1998 and in the beginning of 1999, she came over to England and began working in the NHS as a Chartered Physiotherapist, as well as practising privately. In 2002, Sune qualified as an equine veterinary physiotherapist and started working with Victoria Spalding, who is the British Equestrian team Equine Veterinary Physiotherapist. In 2003, the practise was launched, and she started treating horses as a veterinary physiotherapist in Nottinghamshire, whilst continuing to practice as a Charted Physiotherapist.

Throughout her career, Suné expanded her expertise by doing several courses. These courses include the "Pilates for horse riders" course through APPI (The Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) and Kinesio Taping courses from KT1 – KT4, as well as KT1 and KT2 equine. Kinesio taping and Pilates are something that is used regularly on both human and equine patients.

Suné is a Clinical educator for the postgraduate students of the MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy courses at Hartpury University and University of Liverpool.

During her spare time, Suné likes to stay fit (although running around after her children keeps her quite active!).

Ellie has always been passionate about animals and the veterinary industry. She graduated with a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Bioveterinary Science from the University of Lincoln before going on to achieve a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Veterinary Physiotherapy, with Merit, from the University of Nottingham.

Before qualifying as a veterinary physiotherapist, Ellie gained valuable experience working within an emergency veterinary hospital. She is passionate about providing high-quality, evidence-based care tailored to each individual patient and is proudly registered with the Institute of Registered Veterinary & Animal Physiotherapists (IRVAP) and the Animal Health Professions Register (AHPR).

Before beginning her studies at Nottingham, Ellie had never worked with horses. Through her student placements with Sune, she discovered a love for equines and their intuitive nature (as well as their wonderfully squishy lips!). Sune was an incredible mentor, and Ellie now feels privileged to call her a colleague.

Alongside her physiotherapy work, Ellie is also a qualified Reformer Pilates instructor and enjoys incorporating her passion for anatomy and movement into her classes. Outside of work, Ellie loves travelling, spending time with friends (especially over a bottomless brunch!), and relaxing with her rescue dog, Basil.
